martinis on the roof
Tuesday, December 20th, 2005first, i want to thank everyone for their comments and ideas for the last posts. appropriate prizes are on the way. no, really, they are. although, no one correctly guessed why i had to have four posts.
the real reason was because i had to knock off a particular post at the bottom of the page so that it would automatically archive. remember the picture of ‘the cheater’? well, ’some people’ didnt appreciate the fact that i had posted it and asked me to remove it. i told them that eventually it would automatically drop off the page and would then be gone (which was just a partial fib). anyway, i was going to run into those folks that night and wanted to make sure that i didnt have to lie about it dropping off the page.
by the way, if you would still like to take a look at that picture, you can find it in the september 05 archives.
so on to the real post…
back in lala land for a week and a half. the drive out was a bit longer than expected because of the snow in the rockies. im not complaining thats for sure. a-basin got another 6 inches and it was really tough not to stop by and make a few turns before continuing on the drive. good thing that it was too early and the chairs werent opening for a couple hours.
kinda nice dropping back into the la basin. greeted by some nice strong winds coming out of the desert and then as i got closer caught the smell of the ocean. i always loved that.
of course, i had to make a stop in barstow for my traditional innout burger. "double-double, grilled onions, no tomatoes, fries well-done, and a neapolitan shake." this time i had to leave out the fries, because they take so long to make that i didnt want to get even further behind on the drive. first double-double in 7 months. hmmm, good. by the way, whats with the new plastic bins that you get your burger in?
in the sidebar, i added a list of the music that im listening to during the roadtrip. music can make or break a roadtrip so the proper selection is always important. if you are alone, its usually easier, but with another person you have to be aware of their preferences and allow them choices along the way too, so getting the proper mix is a little more difficult. plus, loud singalongs usually arent appreciated quite as much with someone else in the car. im the type to have something on near 100% of the time while driving, but ive found that other people often want to talk or even have silence in the car at times. whatadrag. i guess its all about compromise.

ps. just reread that last paragraph and i feel that i do need a disclaimer in there. no, im NOT referring to anyone in particular (brenda), im just talking in general.
